The exhibition “52 Women: Stories of Women Who Transformed Toronto” opens at the Museum of Toronto on April 9 and will run until December 19, 2025. This multimedia exhibition, presented for the first time in Toronto, offers a unique look at influential women across a variety of fields.

These women have been pioneers in areas such as science, art, politics, sports, and civic life.

Among them are Ontario’s first female doctor, the city’s first female mayor, and the first female war correspondent.

The exhibition features 52 theatrical monologues written by 24 prominent Canadian playwrights. These monologues have been performed and filmed by actors from across the country and will be screened throughout the exhibition.

In addition, personal items, photographs, letters, and mementos belonging to these women—alongside objects from Toronto’s historical collections—will also be on display.
