One of Toronto’s most vibrant cultural celebrations, formerly known as the Festival of India, returns this year under its new name: Chariot Fest.

This free event blends Indian cultural traditions, spiritual rituals, delicious food, music, and family-friendly activities, drawing tens of thousands to the streets and islands of Toronto each summer.

The festival takes place in two parts:

🛕 Chariot Parade (Ratha Yatra):

On Saturday, July 12, from 11 AM to 1 PM, a traditional Chariot Parade will begin at Yonge & Dundas Square, right in the heart of downtown Toronto. (This parade takes place only on Saturday.)

🌿 Island Festival Celebration:

After the parade, the festivities continue at Centre Island:

• Saturday, July 12 | 12 PM – 9 PM
• Sunday, July 13 | 11 AM – 5 PM

At Centre Island, visitors can enjoy:

• Traditional music and dance performances
• Outdoor yoga sessions
• Face painting and children’s activities
• A vibrant South Asian cultural marketplace
• Free vegetarian meals for all attendees

Admission is free, but participants are responsible for their own ferry fare to the island.
