The old mansion behind the popular Italian restaurant Mamma Martino’s in Etobicoke had been abandoned for years. But the Martino family renovated it, and today, under the name Martino Manor, it has become one of Toronto’s scariest Halloween attractions.

The Martino Manor Halloween event is a 20-minute experience that takes visitors into a world filled with blood, violence, and terrifying characters. The event runs every fall and has now entered its seventh year.

Fernando Martino, the 29-year-old son of the family, is the lead designer behind this haunted house. He says the idea for Martino Manor first came up as a joke, but his father, Bruno, provided the funding that turned the abandoned house into a family project.

This year, a brand-new section has been added to the path: a cabin with a dark storyline about a taxidermist who, after the death of his son, preserved the boy’s body and hid him in the house. The discovery of this horrifying secret by the wife sets off a nightmarish experience for visitors.

The Martino Manor event runs from October 3 to November 2. Tickets cost between $24.99 and $29.99 and are only available at the door.
